Government fees and professional fees
Government and centre fees
The short-stay visa fee is set at EU level and collected by the receiving state, and appointed centres such as TLScontact, VFS Global or BLS charge their own service fee. Both are paid by the applicant and published by the relevant authority or centre.
Our professional fee
Quoted separately in writing after we review the trip. It covers the route assessment, a personalised checklist, preparation and document review — never the visa fee itself and never the decision.
Common application mistakes
- Applying to the first country flown into rather than the main destination of the trip
- Insurance that excludes part of the trip dates or does not cover the whole Schengen Area
- Bookings that contradict the itinerary declared on the application form
- Applying too close to departure for the appointment and processing stages
- Financial evidence for a shorter period than the receiving state publishes
- Assuming every member state asks for exactly the same documents
If a Schengen application has been refused
Refusals are issued with a stated ground and information about the appeal or review process of the deciding state, within its own deadlines. Before reapplying, the earlier file should be read against the refusal so the new application genuinely addresses it. Approval can never be promised.
